Quadplex Style...

This property holds four apartments. Each floor is a different apartment with an extra one on top of the garage. The story of the house was that it was built by one of the Wrigley(gum) brothers who constructed it out of all concrete because his son died in the "Chicago Fire". He wanted to make sure that this house could never burn down. Each original wall to the house has six inches of concrete. It makes it very hard to hang things up on the wall but is wonderful for sound proofing between the apartments.

We have the main level which consists of the original parlor, dining room, and kitchen. The kitchen has a door to the back parking area which makes it great for unloading items. We also have a direct entrance to the basement which makes it great for laundry. The rest of the tenants have to enter from the front door and climb to their individual floors or enter an outside door to the basement.

This was the original parlor converted into a bedroom. Where the built-in bookcase is located is where they have sealed in the original sliding glass doors that would have walked into the main entry way. I love that there is stain glass at the top of the window.

The fireplace in the bedroom. Sadly, it is no longer in working condition.

The original dining room that was converted into a living room. We love the fireplace but it made it very difficult to position the room. However, it is in working condition.

More stain glass in the living room.

I normally wouldn't have posted pictures of our place but I have a father-in-law who wanted to take pictures when there were still boxes everywhere and parents who want to see where their little girl is living.

James likes to joke about how we started in a two bedroom townhouse with a garage, to a two bedroom apartment with a car-port, and now a one bedroom quadplex with at least off street parking.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to live in the location of Pittsburgh. My bus stop is right outside the house which takes me directly to any of my classes. So far the humidity hasn't been horrible. It definitely welcomed us the first week we were here, but has been very mild ever since. We are adjusting to it, the AC window mount, and eventually the radiators(which I keep calling the furnace).

James is doing well. He is currently working for our landlord. It's amazing to watch him come home exhausted from a day's work, but I just laugh about it since he now knows what its like to be on his feet for eight hours straight. I will have no sympathy until he has done it for as long as I have. Okay, maybe a little bit when the humidity is really bad.

School starts in less than two weeks!
